Clubs & Councils RecognitionPSA places importance on the recognition of its member Councils and Clubs in the following areas.
Club Service Awards and Community Involvement
Club Service Awards are presented in recognition of photography service efforts made by PSA-member clubs in communities worldwide. The award recognizes clubs' participation in photographic projects of a civic nature such as town or area publicity, welfare and charity fund-raising, historical documentation, animal adoption, nature conservancy, community promotion, free holiday or event portraits, and education in the art and craft of photography. There is a minimum waiting period of three years between receiving successive PSA Service Awards for Clubs.

The Club Representative of the Year award recognizes those Club Representatives whose leadership keeps their PSA member club involved with PSA activities and who refer many individual members to PSA. Based on the size of the club, a Small Club Representative of the Year and a Large Club Representative of the Year is awarded. The two awards are presented at the Opening Meeting of the PSA Annual Photo Festival. In addition, the two recipients are recognized on the PSA Website, in the PSA Journal, and in The Projector newsletter.

Membership Milestones
Clubs are recognized on the PSA Website and in The Projector for each five-year membership anniversary. Certificates commemorating the milestone are sent to the club’s representative.
Membership Referrals
The Membership Star Program recognizes clubs and councils who bring in new members to the Photographic Society of America. Clubs and councils do not earn membership stars, but instead may earn a free one-year membership when the organization refers 10 members who join PSA in a calendar year. This organization may earn another free one-year membership when five or more members join PSA in a subsequent calendar year. Free organization membership for clubs and councils includes only the print edition of the PSA Journal. Clubs are recognized on the PSA Website, for their PSA membership referrals.
