Thanh lives in Riverside, CA and has enjoyed photography for over 30 years. He is active in the Exploring Light Club. He is on the board of the Southern California Council of Camera Clubs (S4C), serving as Pictorial Individual Color Chair. For his service, he earned the Associate Honor (AS4C) in 2009 and the Fellowship Honor (FS4C) in 2013. He also serves as the event photographer for the Southern California Roundup Chapter of PSA.

Thanh enters many PSA-recognized International Exhibitions and has received many PSA Gold Best of Show medals as well as numerous other medals and HMs. He received the PPSA Distinction in 2012. He has judged the S4C International Exhibition, Coachella International Exhibition, and the Gia Dinh Exhibition in Vietnam.
